About Roots of Revelation
Hi! I’m Jon Nettles and I’m not a trained academic. In fact, I’m just a family man and small business owner who loves the book of Revelation. I am hoping that you to come along with me on a journey as we study Revelation together. I guarantee you will be blessed if you do!
Revelation is like a tree that is supported and fed by “roots”. When I use the term roots I am talking about hundreds of references made within Revelation about scriptures found throughout the Bible. For instance, when the tree of life is mentioned in Genesis it helps us understand when the Tree of Life is mentioned in Revelation. These “roots” make understanding it a lot easier than you might think!
Revelation shows us God’s plan to bless those who love Jesus from every nation. He won’t force our love. The choice to love or reject him is ours. Those who give him their hearts and worship him will live with God forever. We are on the winning side so no matter how hard life gets stay on it!
Key Themes of Revelation
Revelation shows us the God is in control of history. He wants to bless those who love Jesus from every nation. However, He won’t force our love. He allows us to choose to love or reject Him. Those who give him their hearts and worship him will live with God forever.
Even though Christians are assured of eternal life, we still have hard times in this life. Even so, we must hold on to our faith. Revelation urges us to remain faithful in hard times. It also promises eternal blessings if we do. Being faithful means that we don’t rely on anyone or anything else. Jesus is all we need!
Why Do Some People Avoid Revelation?
There are several perceived obstacles to more people reading Revelation. However, they are only real obstacles if we allow them to be. Some people think it is difficult to understand, too strange, or too controversial.
Overcome the Obstacles
My prayer is that God will help you overcome these obstacles so you can be blessed by reading His inspired Word. We may not be able to understand all of it, but we can understand more today than we did yesterday. Day by day, God’s Word will become less strange when you see it ties in very well with the rest of the Bible. The controversial part is part of the deal, however, and requires courage to overcome.
Just Get Started
Come along with me as we study Revelation. We aren’t after a destination where we will have mastered it. We are on a journey where the Master blesses us each time we learn one new thing about Him we did not know the day before. Along the journey there might be times when you feel more of the presence of God than you’ve ever felt before!
Romans 12:2 tells us that the Holy Spirit will help understand God’s will. Claim that promise and get started on learning more about Revelation today!
